Like the rest of America, Florida is very car orientated.  Some of the attractions are 20 minutes apart, and Cape Kennedy and the Gulf coast are over an hour away.

You also need to select the correct type of vehicle.  Your heart may say "convertible" while your head says "family" or even "people carrier"!   All cars come with air-conditioning and considering Florida's weather this will be more important than whether the top folds down!

If you are flying in from the UK you will probably land in the late afternoon or early evening, which is not a good time to be ringing round trying to organise a hire car.  Much better to book from the UK.

Prices?   They vary from company to company.  You can check out the company listed below and deal direct, as far as we can see they are the most competitive at the moment.

IMPORTANT - you collect (and return) Alamo and Dollar cars directly opposite the main arrivals terminal at Orlando International Airport rather than from an off-site depot.  This is very convenient and can save quite a lot of (valuable) holiday time at the beginning and end of your holiday. Alternatively, cars can be collected from one location (e.g. Miami) and returned to another location such as Orlando.

Typical Prices: Silver Inclusive Weekly Car Rental Prices - Including 2 Drivers and NO hidden extras!

Flights - you will need these too!

Florida Flights

We always book our cars via the internet, but when it comes to flights we head for a couple of places to checkout cost and availability - and then ring them and chat about the options. Naturally, if you are not UK-based or if you are a regular traveler you will have your own favourite contact.  Most flights are via a US hub (e.g. Continental go via New York and Delta go via Atlanta).  Virgin do fly direct to Orlando, but not always in the winter months.
