Like
everywhere else in the World, the weather in Florida varies day by
day, and month by month. However, for your guidance the
average monthly temperatures and rainfall are shown below. If
you would like an up to date forecast click on the rainbow.
Remember they are 5 hours behind UK time.
Please note that, because of the
sub-tropical nature of Florida's climate, rain storms can be sudden and heavy.
So in the peak months of rainfall (June to September), rain typically falls
daily in the afternoon for a short period before clearing to give superb
weather.
Florida Climate
Between December
and February, Florida is relatively dry and sunny, with afternoon temperatures
at about 25 °C (77 °F). On average, 24 days of the month are dry with about 7
hours of sunshine. The nights are usually cool.
In the months March to May, the average temperature rises to about 28 °C (82
°F), with about 9 hours of sunshine per day. About 22 days of each month are
dry. With the sun higher in the sky now, everyone should take precautions
against sunburn.
The summer months of June to August are hot, with average daily maximum
temperatures soaring to 31 °C (88 °F). There is a lot of rain falling from
frequent showers and thunderstorms, and the number of dry days in the month
falls on average to about 15, although the sunshine hours stay on average at
about 9 hours per day. Late summer is the hurricane season in the Gulf of Mexico
and the Caribbean, although several years may pass between such events. Plenty
of advanced warnings are now available to the public.
Temperatures remain high from September to November, averaging almost 30 °C (86
°F) at first. September is the wettest month, with some 11 days being dry on
average, but this improves to about 21 days in November. About 7 hours of
sunshine per day can be expected.
